We’re rounding up five of our favorite summer recipes to make while stone fruits and watermelons are in season. July is the peak month for many of these, so now’s the time to grab peaches, cherries, and watermelon to make these delicious recipes. We’ve got an appetizer, salad, two desserts, and a refreshing frozen drink!
- Watermelon & Arugula Salad
- Sweet Cherry Galette
- Summer Snack Skewers
- Watermelon Basil Slush
- Summer Peach Cake

Watermelon & Arugula Salad
This summer salad is sweet & salty, crunchy & cool – plus it comes together with simple ingredients in just minutes! The peppery arugula and crisp cucumbers are complemented by the sweet and juicy watermelon. Then we add in a salty and creamy bite from the crumbled feta. We top it all off with a good drizzle of olive oil and reduced balsamic. The mint gives a fresh, cool flavor that enhances the whole salad.

Sweet Cherry Galette
Sweet Cherry Galette is our favorite way to use summer cherries before they’re gone. Cherry season begins as early as mid-May, but cherries really peak in July. This galette is perfect for backyard cookouts, Americana celebrations, or any summer party that needs an easy and elevated dessert. We love how simple this dessert is to make, especially when using store-bought pie dough. If you’re feeling fancy, feel free to use a homemade dough here.

Summer Snack Skewers
Two easy appetizers using sweet summer fruits with creamy cheeses and fresh herbs that look fancy but take minutes to make. The peach skewers are a spin on a traditional Caprese, but we’ve substituted peach for the tomato. Peaches give a little extra sweetness to the creamy mozzarella and fresh basil. The watermelon skewers are like our Watermelon & Arugula Salad on a stick. Sweet, juicy watermelon is paired with salty feta, fresh mint, and crunchy cucumber.

Watermelon Basil Slush
We love watermelon and basil together for a refreshing drink on a hot summer day. Previously, we made our Watermelon Basil Cooler, but we wanted to go even more refreshing with a frozen drink! We cut up watermelon into cubes, and then popped them into the freezer on a sheet pan. Once frozen, the cubes are blended up with basil simple syrup, water, and lime juice for a slush that will keep you cool on the hottest of summer days.

Summer Peach Cake
This cake is easy to make but looks impressive with all the peaches layered on top. The peaches are sprinkled with a little sugar before going in the oven which gives the cake a sweet, almost jammy topping. We serve ours with fresh, lightly whipped cream, but you could also serve with some vanilla gelato.
